Trainer Chad Brown is set to send out four horses in the $150,000 Fort Marcy Stakes (G2T) on Saturday. The race over the inner turf course at Belmont Park will have a field of nine, led by Instilled Regard.

The race will cover 1 1/8-miles on turf and is for older horses.

Instilled Regard

Instilled Regard is a graded stakes winner on both dirt and turf, and he is looking for his third graded stakes win.

Last time out, the 5-year-old son of Arch finished sixth as the favorite in the Miniz Memorial Classic (G2T) at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots. In that outing, he chased the slow pace and was not able to challenge the winner Factor This.

"He didn't act like he handled the course very well, so we're drawing a line through that race," Brown said.

Instilled Regard is owned by Larry Best's OXO Equine. He won the Ft. Lauderdale Stakes (G2T) at Gulfstream Park in December and went on to finish third in the Pegasus World Turf Cup Invitational Stakes Presented by Runhappy (G1T) at the South Florida track.

As a 3-year-old, Instilled Regard ran over the main track to take the Lecomte Stakes (G3) at Fair Grounds and finished fourth in the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve (G1), all the while under Hall of Fame trainer Jerry Hollendorfer.

He will break from post 5 under jockey Irad Ortiz Jr.

Flop Shot

Flop Shot will also race for Brown, making his North American debut. His last race was a third-place finish behind multiple group stakes-winner Headman in the Prix Guillaume d'Ornano Haras du Logis Saint-Germain (G2) in August at Deauville in France.

When speaking on the son of New Approach, Brown said, "He's a staying type of horse. He's been ready to run for over a month now, so we're looking forward to getting him going."

He will break from post 4 under Hall of Fame jockey Javier Castellano.

Brown's Other Entrants

Brown has two more entrants in the form of the French-bred Devamani and Tribhuvan.

Devamani is owned by Sandford J. Goldfarb and Samuel Abraham, and he made his debut for Brown in the Tampa Bay Stakes (G3T). In that race, he finished second at Tampa Bay Downs.

Tribhuvan is owned by Michael Dubb, Madaket Stables, and Wonder Stable, and he will make his second North American stakes following a third-place finish against allowance company on the Gulfstream Park turf.

The son of Toronado will break from the outside post.

Social Paranoia, Brown's last entrant, has finished on-the-board in 12 of his 13 career starts.

Owned by Stuart Grant's The Elkstone Group, Social Paranoia finished third to stablemate Halladay in the May 9 Sunshine Forever Stakes at Gulfstream Park. That came after a victory in his season debut in the March 28 Appleton Stakes (G3T) in South Florida.

He will break from post 8 under jockey Manny Franco.

Other entrants include Guccia Factor, who has won half of his 18 starts. He made his seasonal debut in the Fort Marcy and won three of four starts last year, all of which were in stakes at Belmont.

The grade 2-placed Somelikeithotbrown will come into the Fort Marcy off a win and a second in two starts at Turfway Park. Synchrony finished second in the Feb. 15 Fair Grounds Stakes (G3T), who also entered the race. The field is closed out by stakes winner Temple.

The June 6 Fort Marcy at Belmont Park is setting up to be an exciting race, with attention being turned to Brown's entrants.
