Some of the top races for Friday will take place at Remington Park and Belmont Park. Remington Park is set to include stakes races on its card. Let's take a look at some of the top picks for each track.

Remington Park (Races 5 and 7)

Race 5 at Remington Park is set to be the $130,000 Oklahoma Classics Distaff Turf Stakes. The event for 3-year-old and up fillies and mares will cover 1 1/16 miles on the main turf and include a field of seven runners.

The top picks for Race 5 are the #1 Alternative Slew and #6 Leather and Lace.

Alternative Slew, who is coming in at 3/1, is owned by Walter Jones and trained by Randy Oberlander. The 4-year-old Alternation filly has a career record of 4-4-2 from 13 starts and earnings of $222,743. 

Last time out, she took second in the Sept. 25 Bob Barry Memorial Stakes (Black Type) at Remington. She also finished fourth in a Sept. 3 allowance race at the track and a disappointing ninth in the Jan. 26 Jersey Lily Turf Stakes (Black Type) at Sam Houston. 

Alvin Wong's Leather and Lace is coming in at 4/1. The 4-year-old daughter of Podium is trained by Ronnie Cravens, III, and she has a career record of 4-1-2 from 15 starts with earnings of $52,687.

The filly's most recent run was here at Remington, where she took second in a Sept. 19 allowance race. Her other 2020 performance at Remington was a seventh-place finish in an Aug. 22 claiming race. 

Turning to Race 7, it is the $130,000 Oklahoma Classics Sprint Stakes. The event for 3-year-olds and up will cover six furlongs and include a field of seven. 

The top picks for Race 7 are the #3 Welder and #2 Mesa Moon.

Re-Max Farms' Welder is the morning-line favorite at 1/2 odds. The 7-year-old gelding from The Visualizer is trained by Theresa Sue Luneack. 

He is an experienced runner with career earnings of $1,059,018. In 2020, he has two wins and one second from three outings.

Welder finished first last time out in the Sept. 25 Remington Park Turf Sprint Stakes (Black Type) at the track, which followed a runner-up effort in the July 5 Iowa Sprint Stakes (Black Type) at Prairies Meadows. 

He will be challenged by the 5/1 Mesa Moon, who is a 3-year-old gelding from Sky Mesa. Trained by Scott Young, he has a career record of 2-0-1 and earnings of $48,400.

Mesa Moon is 2-for-2 this year, with both victories coming at Remington Park. Those include a Sept. 24 allowance race and an Aug. 22 maiden special weight race.

Belmont Park (Race 1)

Race 1 at Belmont Park will be an allowance race with a $65,000 purse. The event for 3-year-olds and up will cover six furlongs on turf and include a field of nine runners.

The top picks for Race 1 are the #3 Maxwell Esquire and #6 French Reef (Ire). 

The 5/2 Maxwell Esquire is a 3-year-old Discreet Cat colt trained by Christophe Clement. He has a career record of 3-3-1 from nine starts and earnings of $159,970.

His 2020 runs include a Sept. 19 allowance optional claiming race victory last time out at Belmont and a July 22 allowance win at Saratoga. 

The morning-line favorite at 7/5 is French Reef, who is a 4-year-old gelding from New Approach. He is trained by Chad Brown. 

French Reef has one on-the-board finish from three starts in his career, which was a July 23 maiden special weight victory at Saratoga. Last time out, he took fourth in a Sept. 20 allowance race at Belmont Park.
