Some of the top races for Oct. 23 will take place at tracks like Belmont Park, Laurel Park, and Santa Anita Park. Let's take a look at some of the top picks for each track.

Belmont Park (Race 9)

Race 9 at Belmont Park is a $62,500 allowance optional claiming race covering one mile. It is open to 3-year-olds and up and will include a field of six. 

The top picks for Race 9 are the #6 Money Moves and #5 Grumps Little Tots.

Owned by Robert LaPenta and Bortolazzo Stable, Money Moves is coming in as the morning-line favorite at 1/1. The 3-year-old Candy Ride colt is trained by Hall of Famer Todd Pletcher. 

He has a career record of 2-1-0 from four starts and earnings of $67,400.

The colt is coming off a disappointing 13th-place run in the Sept. 5 Kentucky Derby presented by Woodford Reserve (G1) at Churchill Downs. Prior to that, he took second in a July 25 allowance optional claiming race at Saratoga and first in another on March 27 at Gulfstream Park. 

Coming in at 6/1 is Sonata Stable's Grumps Little Tots, a 4-year-old gelding from Sky Mesa trained by Saffie A. Joseph, Jr. 

He is 3-5-4 with 14 career starts and has earnings of $276,704. In 2020, he has one win, one second, and two thirds from five outings.

Last time out, he took fifth in the Sept. 5 Deputed Testamony Stakes (Black Type) at Laurel Park, which followed a third-place finish in an Aug. 5 claiming race at Saratoga. The latter resulted in a 107 Speed Figure. 

Laurel Park (Race 7)

Race 7 at Laurel Park is a $62,500 allowance optional claiming event covering six furlongs. It is open to 2-year-olds and will include a field of eight.

The top picks for Race 7 are the #3 Jaxon Traveler and #4 Shackled Love.

The morning-line favorite coming at 6/5 is Jaxon Traveler, owned by West Point Thoroughbreds and Marvin Delfiner. The Munnings colt is trained by Hall of Famer Steve Asmussen. 

His only start was a Sept. 25 maiden special weight victory at Pimlico, where he registered a 90 Speed Figure.

He will be up against the 4/1 Shackled Love, owned by Z W P Stable and Non Stop Stable. The Shackleford colt is trained by Gary Capuano. 

Also with one career start that was a victory, he scored an Oct. 7 maiden special weight race at Delaware Park. 

Santa Anita Park (Race 3)

Race 3 at Santa Anita Park is a $50,000 starter allowance event covering one mile on turf. It is open to 3-year-olds and up and will include a field of six. 

The top picks for Race 3 are the #4 Rip City and #6 Liberal (IRE). 

Little Red Feather Racing and Sterling Stables' Rip City is coming in at 3/1. The 3-year-old gelding from City Zip is trained by Mike Puype. 

He has a career record of 2-0-0 from six starts and earnings of $47,042. In 2020, he has two wins from two starts.

He is coming off an Aug. 30 starter optional claiming win at Del Mar, where he registered a 107 Speed Figure. He also took a Jan. 1 maiden claiming race at Santa Anita. 

The 3/1 Liberal (IRE), owned by Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners, is coming in at 3/1. The 4-year-old gelding from Lope de Vega is trained by Patrick Gallagher. 

He is 2-1-1 from 10 career starts and has earnings of $45,710. 

Last time out, he took fourth in a Sept. 27 allowance optional claiming race at Santa Anita, registering a 107 Speed Figure. His last win came in a May 16 claiming race at Santa Anita as well.
